Join The Band
Vacancies
Full-time · Los Angeles
The Game Band makes surprising games that welcome people who don't usually play. We created Where Cards Fall for Apple Arcade, Blaseball for the web, and Dead Man's Party: A Knives Out Game for Netflix. We’re now building brand new social, ritual-based games for non-gaming platforms.
We’re looking for a Head of Social to embed social deeply into our new games and build the studio’s online presence.
This is not a traditional marketing role. Social is part of our game design. You'll work with our games team to make sharing feel natural and rewarding.
We are a remote studio with a strong LA presence. For this role, we prefer candidates in the LA area.
What You’ll Do
Own the Studio Voice
- Build and run The Game Band’s social presence
- Develop and manage character-driven accounts for our games
- Write sharp & distinctive copy
- Create recurring bits, formats, and running jokes
Design Social Into the Product
- Collaborate closely with product and design teams
- Shape share mechanics and viral loops
- Influence feature design to increase organic spread
- Help ensure our games are built to be shared
Build the Organic Engine
- Grow TikTok, Instagram, X, and emerging platforms
- Test formats aggressively and iterate quickly
- Optimize for hooks, retention, and momentum
- Use paid strategically to amplify what’s already working
You’re a Fit If You
- Are an exceptional creative writer with a strong voice
- Have grown social accounts from zero to meaningful scale
- Understand short-form video and platform algorithms deeply
- Have experience with consumer apps or products. We welcome candidates from outside the games industry.
- Think in experiments, not content calendars
- Are comfortable being weird and creative online
- Can balance data fluency with strong creative taste
- Want to shape product, not just promote it
Bonus:
- Experience building character-driven accounts
- Paid social experience
This Role Is Not For You If
- You prefer polished campaigns over rapid experimentation
- You’d rather delegate execution than make things yourself
- You’re more interested in following traditional marketing playbooks than pioneering new ones
What Success Looks Like
- Our studio has a distinct, recognizable online presence
- Organic social meaningfully contributes to player growth
- Our games are talked about outside of traditional gaming circles
- Sharing feels natural and rewarding to players, not promotional
- Social thinking is embedded into every product we ship
If you’re excited by building voice, writing memorable characters, and designing games to reach new audiences, we’d love to talk.
